Situated on the boundary between Barnet and Enfield, Southgate’s expansion began when the Piccadilly Line was extended in the 1930s. Southgate Underground Station and nearby Arnos Grove are served by the Piccadilly Line and will get you to Piccadilly Circus in 30 minutes. The railway stations at Palmers Green and New Southgate offer services towards Moorgate or Stevenage and Welwyn Garden City. Southgate is well connected when it comes to buses, with the 125, 298, 121 and a night bus, the N91 offering regular services into central London. Southgate is located just a few miles from the M25 and the M1 which makes it easy to escape from the capital using your car. Southgate is also just a 35-minute drive from Luton Airport.
Southgate is located in the catchment area of some of the finest schools in the UK such as the independent Palmers Green High School for Girls, Salcombe Preparatory School, and the Keble Preparatory School for Boys. However, local state schools such as Ashmole Academy also offer an excellent education to local kids and have been rated as Good or Outstanding in recent Ofsted reports. Walker Primary, Brunswick Primary School and Osidge Primary provide fantastic teaching experiences for younger children in the community.
